In 1977, wealthy widow Helen Brach, heiress to the Brach candy fortune, disappeared without a trace after a doctor’s appointment in Chicago. The investigation into who killed Helen Brach would lead police to her con man/boyfriend, her shady houseman and into the underground world of horse-killing hitmen who murder thoroughbreds for money.
